My dean Moves,
You were good enough to discuss with
J.R. Masson and A. Morse in February last certain
questions relating to the future of the Hong Kong
University (vide your letter to me dated February 3823rd) and by the mail which carries this there will
go to the Colonial office the report of the Committee
which I appointed to consider and advise upon the
right development of the University, under my commenting
despatch.
This letter is to commend most warmly to
you Mr. D.J. Sloss, the Vice-Chancellor. He has gone
home on duty-leave at this time principally because he
and I and others interested in the University's future
are convinced that now and in the next few years China's
urgent need for help in her reconstruction offers to the
University a singular opportunity of taking its proper
place in education in the Far East.
Sir Henry Moore, K.C.M.G.
